Associate Professor Dr. Sansanee C. Chaiyaroj

 

 

Associate Professor Dr. Sansanee C. Chaiyaroj obtained her B.Sc. in Medical technology from Mahidol university and Ph.D. from Georgetown University, USA. She got TDR/WHO Postdoctoral Fellow in 1992.  She received many awards such as the Thailand Research Fund Scholar in 1994 and 1997, the Thailand Young Investigator Award in 1995, the National Science and Technology Development Agency Research Career Development Awards in 1997, Mahidol University Award for Excellence in Research in 2001, Third World Academy of Science Research Award in 2002 and L'oreal Woman in Science Research Award in 2003. Now, she is Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. Associate Professor Dr. Sansanee C. Chaiyaroj has been work on pathological effects of malaria which is focused on interactions between parasite molecules and their receptors on endothelial cells that cause infected red blood cells to stick in small blood vessels of the brain and other organs. The other area of research is biology of Penicillium marneffei which is an emerging opportunistic infection in AIDS patients. Her research works have been recognized with distinguish publications. Currently she is a Mahidol university’s Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs
