SCID 506 Biostatistics and Research Methodology 3(2-2)

Scientific methodology in biological science research. The principles of statistics in designing and analyzing data from experiments, probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, chi-square test, regression and correlation analysis, non-parametric statistics, and use of statistical packages. Theoretical study about basic functions of electronic parts i.e. resistor, condensor, inductor, semi-conductor, and transistor, their components and functions in simple and basic circuit both individual and integrated. Electricity circuit, theoretical study of the direct and alternating current both one-phase and three-phase type, power station to buildings wiring system, in-door wiring system and installation of electrical parts, electric power management and planning suitable for laboratory equipment consumption.

Function and performance systems, both mechanics and electronics of each functional parts in various types of spectrophotometers. Instrumental adjustment, maintenance and solving of trouble-shootings.

 

MTID 509 Clinical Laboratory Instrument II (Balance) 2(1-2)

Working systems of various types of weighing balances using in clinical laboratory. Functional details of balancing beam parts. Standard condition calibration and weighing practice using digital electronic powered balances, maintenace, cleaning and solving of trouble-shootings.

 

MTID 510 Clinical Laboratory Instrument III (Electrode Instrument) 2(1-2)

Electrochemistry instruments, application of ion- or substance electrode instruments; electrolyte analyzer, blood gas analyzer, pH meter. Biosensor and diagnostic application. Funcion, maintenance and problem solving of electrode instruments.

(Hematological Instrument)
Systems and development of hematological equipments using in clinical laboratory; blood cell count and differential, automated blood slide staining instrument, and microscopes. Theoretical and practical study of main functional parts; both mechanic and electronics, instrumental adjustment, maintenance and solving of trouble-shootings. 

 

MTID 512 Clinical Laboratory Instrument V 2(1-2)

(Clinical Microbiological Instrument)Development and product generations of microbiological instruments using in clinical laboratory; sterile machine, freeze-drier, histological section machine, refrigerated centrifuge, automated bacterial identified instruments etc. Theoretical and practical study of main functional parts, both mechanic and electronic, instrumental adjustment, maintenance and solving of trouble-shootings.

 

MTID 513 Digital Electronics 2(1-2)

Theoretical and practical study of functions of electronic switching, specific property of the whole circuit, construction of logic-gated circuit, memory unit circuit, and central processing unit. Functional study of each composition in the microprocessor and computer and scientific instruments application.

 

MTID 603 Clinical Laboratory Service 2(1-4)

Visit and/or practice in clinical laboratory of both government and private sectors to gain knowledge of performing laboratory procedure of high complexity, learn to make critical decisions and problem solving within realistic constraints, to gain experience on laboratory administration and to get the ability to integrate, synthesize, and apply the knowledge in clinical laboratory correlation for supervision in laboratory work.

Thesis

MTID 699 Research Ph.D. Thesis 36/48(0-144/192)

This is a compulsory part of the programme which aims to encourage a student to create an innovation research work in medical sciences or other sciences and technologies at the international standard level. Publication of thesis work in a standard journal is needed.
